In-Depth
The unprecedented astounding news spread around the town after a few passersby witnessed the tragic situation and informed the villagers, the primary information came from children aged 5-6 years who told their family that the victim had not yet returned after having said that they will go for drinking water.
The SPACE Media had a telephonic conversation with the DC Tirap Shri Taro Mize, wherein the information in connection to the tragic incident had been shared.
DC Tirap informed SPACE Media that the incident occurred on the 9th of October 2021, in between the stretch of road connecting Khonsa and Longding, where the area is undergoing road construction. The exact location is more than 20 km away from Khonsa, where the total distance of the road is more than 45km between Khonsa to Longding. The incident area comes under Longo village.
"Yesterday I was informed that the pit was supposedly created for the construction of the culvert, but on 10th October 2021 today, I have been informed again that the pit was not just made for the culvert but most importantly for the usage of water since the area faces a shortage of water for the construction company, therefore they had dug a pit to conserve water from the nearby small stream for its usage" added DC Tirap
The deceased minors were about 9 to 15 years of age, one male child and the other two were female, wherein the boy and a girl were siblings and the other might have been their friend.
Further, the DC informed that The disaster management personals reached the spot for the verification but the bodies were already reported to have been taken by the villagers in Longo on 9th October itself.
