Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Kaushal Kishore were also present on the

“Kingsway i.e. Rajpath, the symbol of slavery, has become a matter of history from today and has been erased forever. Today a new history has been created in the form of the ‘Kartavya Path’. I congratulate all the countrymen for their freedom from yet another identity of slavery, in this Amrit Kaal of independence,” says the Prime Minister while inaugurating the revamped stretch of three kilometers from India Gate to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The Prime Minister also unveiled the 28 feet jet black granite statue of one of India’s greatest freedom fighters, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose under the canopy which had previously been the statue of King George V during the British rule at India Gate. Netaji’s statue is crafted by famous sculptor Arun Yogiraj.
“At the
time of slavery, there was a statue of the representative of the British Raj.
Today the country has also brought to life a modern, strong India by
establishing the statue of Netaji in the same place.”
Subhas
Chandra Bose was such a great man who was beyond the challenge of position and
resources. His acceptance was such that the whole world considered him a
leader. He had courage and self-respect. He had ideas, he had visions. He had
leadership abilities and had policies.”- PM Modi said while talking about
the Nation’s hero to the gathering at the inauguration ceremony.
The Prime
Minister called upon citizens of the country to visit the newly constructed
Kartavya Path and also Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s statue which stands tall at
the India Gate and click pictures and selfies and upload it on social media
with the hashtag #KartavyaPath. A special drone show will take place for the next
three days based on the life of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
“I know
this entire area is the heartbeat of the people of Delhi, and a large number of
people come with their families to spend time in the evening. The planning,
designing, and lighting of the duty path have also been done keeping this in
mind” Pm said. “I believe that this inspiration of Kartavya Path will create a
flow of duty in the country and this flow will take us to the fulfillment of
the resolve of a new and developed India,” the PM concluded.
