Bajrang
Dal activists on Friday burned down posters of the Pathaan movie at Gold Cinema
at LG towers in Guwahati's Narengi. The activists burned down the posters over
the screening of the movie which is going to be released on January 25.
According to reports, the members of the dal pulled down the posters hanged outside the theater and set it on fire. Some even went inside the theatres and pulled down the posters, chanting, on top of their lungs, 'Jai Shree Ram'.
Amid
the protests, when the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday was asked
about it by the media in a press conference, the CM said, "I have no idea
what's going on, there are other important things to focus upon other than
these. If there has been any violation of law and order, we will take action
accordingly."
He further made a statement stating, "Who is Shahrukh Khan? I don't know anything about him or his film, Pathaan. There are many Shahrukh Khans here in Assam."
The
CM further said, Assamese movie Dr Bezbarua- Part 2 is also releasing soon,
people of Assam should watch that instead.
Sarma
also said that many Bollywood stars reach out to him ahead of the release of
their movies if there are any protests but Shahrukh Khan didn't call him.
"Khan
didn't call me though many Bollywood stars call me in case there is any problem
or protest. And if he does call me, I will look into the matter. Action will be
taken if law and order have been violated and the case has been filed, the CM
said.
Right
after his statement, Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan called the Chief
Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at 2 am on Sunday to express concern over the
protests against the screening of his upcoming film, Pathaan in Assam.
The
news was shared by the CM in all the official social media handles of the CM.
The
CM said, he has assured Shahrukh Khan that the state government will look into
and make sure no such untoward incident takes place.
Most
of the netizens are of the opinion that the CM shouldn't have commented,
"Who is SRK?" as SRK is a famous personality all over the world.
While
some are saying, "CM wanted attention and he got it", after SRK gave
him a call, post his controversial statement.
While
some of them are praising the CM for not focusing on insignificant or
irrelevant issues like movies.
