PM Modi announces PM- SHRI scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM-SHRI) Yojana.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a new initiative
called the PM SHRI Schools (PM Schools for Rising India) on Monday on the occasion
of Teacher’s Day on September 5.
Under this initiative, 14,500 schools will be upgraded and
developed throughout the nation under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising
India (PM-SHRI) Yojana by strengthening the selected existing schools from
amongst schools managed by Central Government/ State/ UT Government/ local
bodies
PM further stated that these schools will transform into model
schools that will encapsulate the full spirit of National Education Policy,
2020.
According to the Prime Minister, the PM-SHRI schools will
have a modern, transformational and holistic method of imparting education. And
emphasis will be given to a discovery-oriented, learning-centric way of
teaching.
Furthermore, these schools will have modern infrastructure which
will include the latest technology, smart classrooms, labs, libraries, art rooms,
sports, and more, which is inclusive and accessible. They will also be developed into green schools with
infrastructures for water conservation, waste recycling, energy-efficient, and their
curriculum will also be integrated with an organic lifestyle.
“The National Education Policy has transformed the education
sector in recent years. I am certain that the PM-SHRI schools will further
benefit lakhs of students across India in the spirit of NEP,” PM tweeted.
