Manika Saha set to become Tripura’s CM for the second term; PM to attend the oath taking ceremony.

On
Moday, Manik Saha was unanimously elected as the leader of BJP’s legislative
party after BJP had won the elections in the recently concluded Tripura
Assembly polls, making his way to become the Chief Minister of Tripura for the
second time.
“My sincere gratitude to all for electing me as the leader of
legislature party. Under the guidance of Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji, we
shall work together to build 'Unnata Tripura, Shrestha Tripura' & ensure
the welfare of all sections of people,” tweeted Saha after the general meeting of all
the newly elected BJP MLAs who unanimously proposed the name of Manik Saha for
the leader of the legislature party.
In the recently concluded Tripura Assembly polls, the BJP had
won 32 seats while BJP’s ally the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT)
won one seat. Other parties like the Tipra Motha Party stood in the second
place by winning 13 seats, Communist Party of India (Marxist) got 11 seats
while Congress bagged three seats.
As per reports, the oath taking ceremony of the CM and cabinet
ministers will take place on Wednesday,
March 8. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the ceremony in Swami
Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala.
Manik Saha will become the 12th
Chief Minister of Tripura while there’s a possibility of Jishnu Debbarman to
continue as Deputy CM.
Meanwhile former Tripura CM Biplab Kumar
Deb congratulated Saha on his election as leader of the BJP and BJP ally IPFT
legislature group.
A former Congress leader, Manik Saha
joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2016. He was an oral and maxillofacial
surgery specialist and used to be teach at the Tripura Medical College before
stepping into the world of politics.
