A major
accident took place in Nagaon Friday, September 23 which led to the death of a
woman.
The
accident took place in the Barhampur Nartam village in Nagaon, Assam when a car
that was coming from the opposite direction collided with a bus coming in the wrong direction which led to the major accident and even the death of the woman.
According
to reports, the woman was coming from the opposite direction, i.e., from the
Dibrugarh side to Nagaon while a bus hired by the 9th Assam Police
Battalion, Kohra that was carrying the Assam Police Battalion personnel was traveling
to Kaziranga to attend the meeting that was graced by the CM of Assam in
Kaziranga.
The deceased
has been identified as Dr Rizuwanan Benazir, working in the Kaoimari Hospital,
Nagaon, and was the daughter of a popular Dr A. Awal of Nagaon.
As per
reports, the 30-year-old woman was stuck in the car for a long time in a
painful state, after which she was taken to the Dew Care Nursing Home in
Nagaon, where she was later declared dead.
Speaking
to the Space, SI Raja Irshad, I/C, Traffic Branch, Nagaon Police Station, said, the driver of the bus has escaped from the scene. But they will get him as they already have his detailed information.
Earlier, a
few days back, a similar accident took place at the same spot. People claim it
to be the absence of crossing in the four-lane which is one of the main reasons
for the accidents.
