Lovlina Borgohain wins Gold medal in Women's IBA World Boxing Championships 2023.

Lovlina
Borgohain wins maiden World Boxing Championships Gold medal in the 75 kg
category final on March 26, New Delhi.
She
beat Australia's, a two time Commonwealth Games Champion Caitlin Parker with a
split 5-2 decision win.
The
Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist said she is thankful to each and everyone who
supported her in her journey and contributed to her winning of the gold medal.
She
said, she is very happy but the journey has just started and she hopefully
continues to perform and bring more accolades for the country in the future.
This
is Lovlina's 4th gold medal at the IBA Women's World Boxing Championships 2023.
Earlier
on Sunday, Nikhat Zareen registered a 5-0 win in the final bout of 50kg
category against Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Tam. This is Nikhat's second World
Championships Gold medal. While on Saturday, Nitu Ghanghas (48 kg) and Saweety
Boora (81 kg) had also won Gold medals in their respective categories.
Lovlina
after crashing out in the quarter -final stage at the Commonwealth Games in
Birmingham, last year won her maiden gold medal at the world event. She has
also changed her weight category from her preferred welterweight of 69 kg to
middleweight of 75kg after the previous weight divison was dropped from the
Olympic program.
