King Charles III and Queen Camilla Crowned at Westminster Abbey in the first Coronation Service in almost 70 years.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla were crowned at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, 6th May 2023 in the first Coronation Service in almost 70 years.

Both
the King and Queen arrived at Westminster Abbey in a procession from the
Buckingham Palace, known as ‘The King’s Procession’.

The
Prince of Wales, Prince William pledges loyalty to his father with a kiss on
the cheek as the Coronation was about to end.
The
Prince of Wales had a front-row seat to the proceedings, sitting alongside his
wife, Princess Catherine of Wales, and two of their children, Princess
Charlotte and Prince Louis.
While
King Charles III second son Prince Harry although attends the ceremony of his
father, he sat in the third row of the service.
Prince
Harry attended the ceremony without his wife, Dutchess of Sussex, Meghan and
their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. They were in the US.
After
the Service, they returned to Buckingham Palace in a larger ceremonial
procession, known as ‘The Coronation Procession’ where the other members of the
Royal Family joined as well.
Upon
returning, The King and The Queen received a Royal Salute in the Garden of
Buckingham Palace from the Armed Forces taking part in the Processions.
The King and The Queen, accompanied by Members of the Royal Family except Prince Harry, then appeared on the Buckingham Palace Balcony for the Flypast and the conclusion of the day’s ceremonial events.
Thousands
of people were seen outside the Buckingham Palace despite the rain and after a
huge coronation service, procession.
Among
the guests, celebrity guests who were seen at the coronation ceremony were
actress Emma Thompson and US singer Katy Perry.
Reportedly,
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak along with his wife Akshata Murty also
attended the ceremony and makes history, as Sunak is the first Indian-origin
British Prime Minister who had performed a reading at the Coronation ceremony
of King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey in London.
