Kameng turns black and Muddy: Denizens baffled and perplexed over the startling sight

By Jon Pebi Tato
STATE: In the year 2017 when the mighty Siang river had
turned black and muddy, entire denizens of Pasighat remained baffled,
speculation of its causes came in abruptly, even the former MP Shri Ninong
Ering went on to state if China might have been the cause behind the case
whereas the Chinese counterpart denied the alleged provided by Mr.Ering. Today
on the 29th of October another similar incident occurred wherein the river Kameng has been reported to
have turned black and muddy, speculations are underway but the exact causes are
yet to be deciphered by the District Administration.
In-Depth
The News about the Kameng turning muddy and black went viral
over social media where an old lady with a dead fish and hundreds of other dead fish were seen
circulating. The morning hour from the East Kameng district startled the
passersby and the inhabitants of the Kameng region.
A denizen of Seppa informed The Space that he was surprised to see the Kameng river have
turned muddy and dark so abruptly, the news of the incident widespread the
entire Seppa and the state as a whole.
The river turning muddy and black is not a new thing for the
state as of now, since it has already experienced a similar case in the year
2017 when the river Siang turned black and muddy.
Speculations like, "it could be China behind the
calamities", "china might be constructing something beyond the
border", "Landslides might have occurred in the far mountainous
region" etc are going on among the public.
However, a short Advisory order was notified by the Town magistrate owing to the catastrophic changes in the Kameng river. The order has been provided below.
The District Administration is out of the station, the
further updates shall be highlighted after DA's arrival and research.
The Space had a telephonic conversation with the
member of (KRRC), Kameng river
Rejuvantion club volunteer who
is stationed at Seppa, East Kameng district. KRRC informed that the disaster
might have occurred in the upstream area where no one has reached the spot as
of today.
"DA bhi team form kia he ki nahi woh pata nahi, and DA
aneka baad pata chalega" stated member of KRRC.
He further informed that the DFDO has collected water from
the downstream and tested the sediments and particles contained in the river.
"The sediments & particulates in the water has
galloped 20 times compared to the normal river water " added KRRC
According to the updated reading of DFDO, the Total
dissolved substance is 300-1200 mg /litre, but now Kameng river water has shown
6800mg/litre, which has gone beyond the range of normal water. (Reported to the
Space Media/seppa)
The excess sedimentation has disrupted the level of oxygen
contained in the river water affecting the gills of the fishes, leading
hundreds of such to death and float over the river, and causing a series of
unwanted speculation and confusions among the denizens
Further updates are awaited.
