Gyamar Nikum selected for Hero I-Leauge 2021 qualifiers
STATE: The I-League is a men's professional football league and official second-tier football league in the Indian football league system. Astoundingly a football player from the state has been selected for the said tournament. He is Gyamar Nikum who is currently playing for the Rajasthan United FC. The RUFC on its official Twitter account lauded his presence in the team
For sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp, the league is officially known as the Hero I-League. It is currently contested by 13 clubs across the country.
In an immense pride "Gyamar Nikum", currently in the Rajasthan United FC (RUFC) who hails from Itanagar, has been selected for the Hero I-League 2021 qualifiers. Gyamar had played his first match against the Madan Maharaj FC
The RUFC took to their Twitter handles wherein they informed that "The final match of the qualifiers will be played between Kenkre and RUFC on 23 October"
Nikum is said to be one of the youngest players in the history of the Hero I-League qualifiers. He showered his charismatic game-play during the pre-season in Bhilwara, Rajasthan which has been reported to have caught the attention of the coach who later on wanted him to play for the team.
RUFC offered him a scholarship seat at its residential football school based in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, following his outstanding performance in the BC Roy Trophy Championship.
“It is a new beginning for my football career and I want to make the best out of this opportunity by contributing not only on the field but also off it,” stated Nikum, who has earlier represented Arunachal in the BC Roy Trophy Championship and in the U-15 Sub-Junior National Championship.
Former India under 23 GK coach Shri Gumpe Rime also said , "Would love to see a team from a place that is barely represented. If football has to grow in India it must be developed pan India and not just pockets. I Hope can do that and create history"
