Elon Musk announces Twitter to soon introduce voice and video calls.

Twitter
CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday announced that the microbloggig site will soon to
have several new updates in its latest version.
Twitter
CEO said that now one can "DM reply to any message in the thread (not just
most recent) and use any emoji reaction."
The
early version of encrypted "DMs V1.0" launched today, on May 11,
2023, a feature that Musk and Twitter have been promising for a while now.
To
which, Musk tweeted, "Try it, but don’t trust it yet."
Elon
Musk further announced that soon Twitter will have voice and video chat and
that anyone can talk to people anywhere in the world without giving them their
phone number.
Ever
since Musk took over Twitter last year, he has repeatedly been talking about
turning the platform into a so-called “everything app” like 'WeChat' in China
or 'Kakao' in South Korea.
So
who are eligible to send and receive encrypted messages? According to Twitter
Help Centre page, both the sender and recipient who have the latest version of
the app (iOS, Android, Web) and are verified users or affiliates to a verified
organization; and the recipient follows sender, or has sent a message to sender
previously, or has accepted a Direct Message request from the sender before.
However
the feature is still under a number of technical limitations.
“As
Elon Musk said, when it comes to Direct Messages, the standard should be, if
someone puts a gun to our heads, we still can’t access your messages. We’re not
quite there yet, but we’re working on it,” said Twitter in its Help Center
page.
