"Drugs chhoriye, khel se juriye"Stated The Sport Minister Natung on the commencement of 14th edition of Naba Ita Pulu Memorial Football Cup

ROING: The 14th edition of the Naba Ita Pulu Memorial Football Cup (NIPMFC) tournament was kicked off by Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Mama Natung at the Kera Aa Jubilee ground here in Lower Dibang Valley (LDV) district on 6th of November 2021, Saturday. The theme of the football cup this year is ‘Say no to drugs' and ‘Women empowerment.

With the clear blue sky, cool breeze, and colourful flags, the kickoff ceremony went remarkable, wherein the various dignitaries and Hon'ble leaders graced the event.
Hon'ble MLA Roing, Shri Mutchu Mithi, Hon'ble MLA Dambuk Smt.Gum Tayeng, Hon'ble MLA Anini Shri. Mopi Mihu, former HCM Mukut Mithi, Youth Affairs Director Ramesh Linggi, LDV DC KN Damo, SP James K Lego, DSO Raju Mipi, and other dignitaries were present at the grand opening ceremony.
The SPACE Correspondence Miss Roshni Perying had informed that the football tournament is played annually in the memory of Late Naba Ita Pulu, a pioneer of the Idu Mishmi community. The tournament invites the participation of teams from various districts like LDV, Dibang Valley, Anjaw, and Lohit.
The Sports Minister Shri Mama Natung graced the kickoff ceremony of the tournament and congratulated the organizing committee for organizing such a tournament.
"Naba Ita Pulu was the pioneer among the Idu-Mishmi who rendered a great service for the community and his memory can't be ignored" added Natung
Further addressing the gathering he stated "Drugs chhoriye, khel se juriye", especially targeting the youths.
"The Mishmi belt has always been on the news for the menaces of drugs practices and hence such tournament would provide another dimension to curb the drugs as menaces"_Perying added. (The SPace Correspondence)
There are Thirty-two teams, including five girls’ teams enrolled in the tournament. The final match will be played at the end of this month.
The tournament is being organized by the Naba Ita Pulu Memorial Football Cup Committee (NIPMFCC) in collaboration with the youth affairs & sports department and the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women.
In the boys’ category, the opening match was played between Cheta FC and Abali FC. Cheta FC won by 1-0 goal. In the girls’ category, Coco FC won against GHSS Roing by 7-0 goals.
