Domestic LPG cylinders soon to come with QR codes.

Liquefied
Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders will soon come with QR codes that will help
regulate the domestic cylinders, Union petroleum minister Hardeep Singh Puri
said at World LPG Week 2022 being held in Greater Noida on Wednesday.
The
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas through his social media account
informed that "this QR Code will be pasted on the existing cylinders &
welded on new ones which when activated will have the potential to resolve
several existing issues of pilferage, tracking & tracing & better
inventory management of gas cylinders".
According
to reports, the project is now being worked on by the government and the goal
is to finish the project within three months. 20,000 LPG cylinders embedded
with QR Code have been released in the first tranche.
Over
the next three months, all 14.2 kg home LPG cylinders will have a QR Code
incorporated in them, and all used LPG cylinders will receive a distinctive
sticker. Customers will be able to use these QR codes to obtain details about
the cylinder, such as where it was bottled, who the distributor is, whether
safety testing have been performed, etc.
At
the event, the Union Minister spoke about the importance of access to
affordable and clean energy, stating that, encouraging innovations in the LPG
energy mix, efficiency, conservation, Bio LPG, Synthetic LPG, etc would promote
positive growth and advance efforts to combat climate change.
