STATE: The All Arunachal Pradesh Student's Union (AAPSU) vehemently condemned the repeated incursions, intrusions, and illegalities committed by Forest & Police officials of Assam inside Arunachal Pradesh.
IN-DEPTH
The incident of DFO Lakhimpur's survey inside the Kimin sub-division on the 20th of November 2021 was widely condemned by the citizen of Arunachal Pradesh and denizens of Belo, Boka & Lora village, and Kimin subdivision as in particular.
Citing the incident AAPSU stated, "This should serve as an eye-opener for the State Government"
Lately, the denizen of Kimin also expressed distress against the Notice served by the Assam's Forest department on the eviction and encroachment notice time and again.
From the news reports, "it is clear that the forest officials along with powergrid officers were illegally carrying out survey inside Kimin sub-division for the transmission line. If that was indeed the case, why is the State Government allowing Powergrid and other central agencies to carry out surveys and other activities inside Arunachal Pradesh through Government of Assam?" expressed AAPSU
Further on its press release, AAPSU made it clear that "Any central projects inside Arunachal Pradesh should be undertaken through the state government and not through the Assam Government"
AAPSU claimed to have received a report from the locals of Changlang wherein, the forest department of Assam through an order issued by Divisional Forest Officer, Digboi Division Dated 20/09/2021 has been carrying out illegal surveys and other activities in Changlang District for proposed reserved forest under the division inside Arunachal Pradesh.
"While this said notification has been issued in the context of Assam but their entire activities are being carried out inside Arunachal Pradesh right under the nose of the state forest department and the Changlang District Administration" __added AAPSU
AAPSU had stated that "The union desires for peace and tranquility along the inter-state borders and cessation of all forms of illegalities from the Assam Government. The government of Arunachal Pradesh should strongly take up the matter with its Assam counterpart and the Union Government"
The union has urged the HCM Pema Khandu to revisit the much-hyped _ "out-of-the-court settlement" pertaining to the inter-state boundary dispute and its amicable solution
Further, the Union said that "The continued deafening silence maintained by the state government on the interstate boundary imbroglio is perplexing"
Immediate posting of police & paramilitary personnel along the major friction points of the inter-state boundary as a stop-gap arrangement has been further suggested by AAPSU until a further solution is brought out.
