Assam's Mayur Hazarika secures fifth rank in the UPSC CSE 2022.

Mayur Hazarika, a resident of Mazgaon area in Tezpur, Assam secured All India Rank 5th in UPSC CCE 2022 announced on Tuesday.
Mayur
is a doctor by profession and is currently a Nodal officer working in NHM,
Assam.
Speaking
to news agency ANI, Mayur said that he is really satisfied with the result and
that his first preference would be Indian Foreign Services (IFS).
Mayur
Hazarika did his MBBS from Gauhati Medical College Hospital. He completed his
schooling from Sacred Heart and Don Bosco, Tezpur before passing his higher
secondary from Ramanujan Junior College, Nagaon.
Speaking
to the media, Mayur said he mostly prepared himself by doing self study,
although he did take up an online course.
Hazarika
always had an interest in civil services but he chose to become a doctor as
there was a lack of guidance on approaching civil services back in 2015. But,
later when he was studying in medical school, his interest in foreign diplomacy
and international relations got stronger and therefore he was at it again.
Other
candidates from Northeast who successfully cleared UPSC are- Seven from Assam- Anjali Bhardwaj(Rank 271),
Md. idul Ahmed(298), Diksha Langthasa(664), Nivedita Das(848), Manasjyoti
Das(881) and Mayur Hazarika (5).
From
Meghalaya, only one, Swapnil Bhattacharya secured AIR of 344.
Three
from Arunachal Pradesh- Pebika Lego Rank (290),Tenzin Yangki Rank (545), Austin Tayeng Rank (747).
Four
from Nagaland, Yimkum Ozukum (203), Vevotolu Kezo (387), Imkongnukla Ao (723),
Aotula Ozukum (874).
From
Manipur, four candidates have successfully cleared the exam, Arvind Hanglem
(83), V Soilemthang Vaiphei (619), Chiinzoukim Tungnung (704) and Lourembam
Nelson Mangangcha (rank 915).
While
one from Agartala, Sumit Paul secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 627 in the
exam.
And
lastly from Sikkim, only one, Deepika Agarwal has cleared the UPSC CSE 2022-23
exam securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 151.
In
this year's UPSC too, women dominated the top positions with Ishita Kishore
securing AIR 1 followed by Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N and Smriti Mishra.
Out
of the 933 recommended candidates, 320 are women.
The
UPSC CSE preliminary exam was held on June 5, 2022, and the results were
released on June 22. The main examination was conducted from September 16 to
25, and the results were declared on December 6. The interviews concluded on
May 18.
