Arunachalee Female shuttlers to represent India in World Senior Badminton Championship to held in Spain.

ITANAGAR: The BWF World Senior Championships is a badminton tournament sanctioned by Badminton World Federation (BWF). The winners will be crowned as the "World Senior Champions" and awarded gold medals. However, it does not offer any prize money. The tournament started in 2003 and is held biennially.
Why in News?
Five female shuttlers from the state have been selected for World Senior Badminton Championship organized by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), and scheduled to be held in Huelva, Spain from 28 November to 4 December. The selection for the world championship was held in Navelim, Goa from September 19 to 26 as informed by the ASBA.
Boni Yapu (39), Pema Ladon (46), Taw Yania (45), Yase Bagang (37) and Mepung Pangia (42) will participate in the upcoming Championship which shall held in Spain. They were felicitated by the ASBA in the MLA cottage badminton court on the 6th of October 2021. The ASBA encouraged them to wreck some nerve at SPAIN.The
The female players have shown exemplary work by getting selected among thousands in the selection process.“the ASBA shall assist any kind of help in training so that the players can be well prepared for the world tournament.” Stated Bamang Tago, Chairman Olympic Association of Arunachal.
About the Championship
The last event was held in Katowice, Poland from 4th to 11th August 2019. This is an individual championship with men’s and women’s singles and doubles, and mixed doubles events. The age categories are divided as follows: +35, +40, +45, +50, +55, +60 +65, +70 and +75.
