Amit Shah to lay foundation stone of National Forensic Science University in Assam on May 26.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday in a press conference informed
that the Union Home Minister Amit Shah has postponed his visit to Assam
scheduled on May 11 to May 26 following the situation in Manipur.
The
Union Home Minister was to attend the event of distributing appointment letters
to 45,000 newly recruited government jobs in Assam on May 11.
However,
the Assam CM said the distribution of the appointment letters by the Home
Minister has now been postponed to May 26.
He
further said, although the dates for distribution of appointment letters has
changed but there is no change of joining dates of the candidates which is from
June 1.
Sarma
further said, on the same day, the Union Home Minister will also be laying the
foundation stone of the National Forensic Science University in Guwahati,
Assam.
He
said, “The state government will provide around 150 bigha of land nearby the
AIIMS Guwahati for the construction of the University and that after Gujarat’s
Ahmedabad, Guwahati will have a National Forensic Science University”.
Talking
about Manipur, Sarma said Assam has sheltered over 2000 families of migrated
residents of Manipur due to the on-going situation in the state.
The
local administration is accordingly providing food, shelter, security to the
migrants, he added.
