ITANAGAR: On 10th December 2021, ANYA (All Nyishi Youth Association) sought a 15 days ultimatum addressed to the Chief Minister’s office regarding various corruption charges put forth against Chief Minister Pema Khandu, failing which an extension of 7 days had been added to the ultimatum dated 30th December 2021, seeking immediate resignation of Shri Pema Khandu from the post of Chief Minister.
The CM had allegedly failed to respond to the queries forwarded in the letter. Amidst discussions pointing towards a possible bandh call, school students prepare for their board exams scheduled to commence from the 15th of this month, which may be of a grave concern. ANYA however in the press briefing today, promised transport facilities to the students and assured looking into any possible hindrances and obstacles underway. It has come to light that ANYA at its peak of solidified protests is currently undergoing an internal feud of 'divide and rule policy', ANYA president Byabang Joram informs.
Some executive members of ANYA while briefing the media on 9 January 2022, reportedly expressed their strong opposition against Joram’s course of action and decisions.
A termination letter was reportedly sorted out to eliminate members not inclined towards the cause held by the other half. Later, appointment letters were forwarded to the newly elected members.
"We don’t wish for such corrupted members working for the betterment of the society," says Joram.
Certain speculations float around the room, as Joram recalls clashes among ANYA executives following the 15 days ultimatum. He marks, the situation further escalated after the 7 days extension.
ANYA had initially considered discussing the matter with its parental Organisation, Nyishi Elite Society (NES), but things allegedly took a turn for the worst, when as claimed by Joram-- the CM’s office leaned towards financial means that brought about unrest and disrupted the peace within the Association.
"What are your true intentions behind this divide and rule politics!?," ANYA open questions the CM and his close associates.
Issues addressed in the past
"This cause we are standing for is not limited to the Nyishis alone, it is in fact for the common welfare of all denizens in the state of Arunachal Pradesh."
It has been mentioned in the press conference that, ANYA wishes for proper implementation of developmental packages in the state and claims, the western zone in the state is supposedly being sealed due to failure on the government’s end to release funds within the allotted time. Joram further holds that all funds are currently being diverted and misused.
Secondly, it has been informed that separate departments are currently allocated for Tawang, Tirap and Changlang. In the previous press briefing, a separate Tani clan centric department was proposed, backed with the issue of illiteracy still being highly prevalent among the Nyishis and other Tani clans to a great extent. "The schooling system in the Tani areas have been devoid of development and good educational infrastructure for long now. In the light of such sorry state of affairs, a sum of Rs 200 crores was proposed by ANYA to the Pema Khandu led government, but no responses were entertained," President Joram states.
Major questions raised by ANYA
What is the motive/purpose behind the Deputy Chief Minister and Chief Minister establishing companies registered under the names of their wives? The CM allegedly runs 11 firms, side by side handling several ongoing projects, as claimed by ANYA— in the Rural Works Department (RWD), Public Works Department (PWD), and Public Health Engineering (PHE) departments. The ANYA therefore seeks clarification on the aforesaid.
The association further appeals to the general public and well-wishers for their support and apologises for the inconvenience caused by disseminating information regarding the bandh call within such short notice. ANYA however clarifies informing of a possible bandh call in their previous press briefing.
Controversies: Who is the Real Leader?
Memes and several other posts have been circulating on social media platforms on Byabang Joram exhibiting presidential claims over ANYA. Biri Too, supposedly the newly elected General Secretary of ANYA attempts to clarify the commotion caused.
Earlier when speaking to ATU News 24x7 it was made known that Byabang Joram holds no legitimate power to act on any ANYA related matters as his tenure ended right when the new executive body for ANYA was appointed. When the new batch of executives emerged, Hillang Tadh was announced president and Biri Too, the General Secretary.
Meanwhile, sources state, no reshuffling notification was issued by Nyishi Elite Society (NES)-- parental body of ANYA. Hillang Tadh attempts to clarify: "Though NES is the parental body, it holds no final decision over Youth elections associated with ANYA ."
