IN-DEPTH
A video went viral, wherein three persons supposedly hailing from Assam were heard stating derogatory remarks against the Nyishi Community and further inciting threats to the community.
The Genesis of this can be traced back to the abrupt and intense situation after the forest department issued an encroachment notice within the territory of Arunachal Pradesh, and the land belongs to the community of the Nyishi tribe.
Following the event, the other day the official DFO visited the area of Kimin circle without any prior official notice served another blow to the morality and sanctity of the state's own existing laws and policies and of the people residing in the area.
In the FIR submitted to the SIT SP, the ANSU sought action against the trio under the appropriate section of the law.
ANSU on its FIR mentioned that “In the video, it can be clearly heard that three persons are using the word ‘Dafla’, which is considered a derogatory remark against the Nyishi community. They also warned the Nyishi community of dire consequences if any one of them comes down to Assam. It is pertinent to inform that the word ‘Dafla’ was replaced by the word ‘Nyishi’ in 2008 by Parliament because the community believes that the word itself was coined by outsiders against the Nyishi community,”

As per the report, the Lakhimpur police have arrested two persons for trying to disrupt & disbalance the harmony among the two neighbours. All three are believed to be residents of the North Lakhimpur district of Assam.
"ANSU won't tolerate such defamatory remarks on the community" added the member,ANSU.
