A sigh of Relief for the Arunachalee Travellers :Assam Police introduces helplines

North East: With a positive gesture and to protect the integrity among the neighbouring sister states, the Assam Police has introduced a helpline policy especially for the Arunachalee travellers plying to places via Assam Highways.
Why on News?
For decades-long, the travellers from the state of Arunachal Pradesh have been harassed by the local Assam police while crossing Assam, and this culture of taunting and harassing had negative implications on the mindset of the travellers plying from Arunachal Pradesh to their home district or to other parts of Assam. This hassling and irritating event from the travellers repeatedly had prompted the state DGP to take note.
Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta has given strict instructions to Assam Police and set up a 24/7 helpline for people from Arunachal Pradesh for any help in case of harassment by policemen while travelling on Assam roads.
All the Superintendents of Police of the Northern Range will properly brief the designated people to respond to such calls without fail and inform the SP/Officers concerned for immediate action.
