2D Barcode readers installed at Guwahati Airport; Installation to facilitate faster access and improve security measures in the airport.

The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International
Airport, Guwahati has installed 2D barcode readers at the entry gate to enable
the entry process into the terminal area of the airport faster and smoother.
As per reports, the barcode readers’ facility
will be started from tomorrow onwards i.e., Friday, February 3, 2023.
With the installation of the barcode facility, the security or
the CISF officers deputed will no longer have to wait at the terminal entry
gates for scanning the tickets of the
passengers, manually, but, they will have to wait just to scan/check the
barcodes printed on their tickets or the boarding passes of the passengers.
This will reduce the time needed for entering
the terminals which is taken up for document verification of more than 15,000
passengers on a regular basis.
As per The Sentinel, an official statement
stated that the installing of the barcodes was undertaken to facilitate faster
access as well as to improve the security measures in the airport.
As mentioned above, a huge number of
passengers, as many as 15000 per day makes it quite a work for the security to scan the tickets
manually. Moreover, this time consuming process causes delays for many
passengers and especially during the peak seasons.
The Guwahati Airport will also to soon have E-gates, most likely
in November 2023 which will facilitate automatic entry into the departure
terminal of the airport.
Earlier, in January 26, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
International Airport (CSMIA) has also started and introduced the 2D barcode
scanners for a seamless entry of the passengers. The installation was done both
in the domestic and in the international airport.
Few of the
important things one should keep in mind for seamless Barcode scanning are-
Keeping
both hard/digital copy of your boarding pass/ tickets ready for scanning.
Increase
the brightness of the mobile or tablet while showing the barcode for scanning.
Keeping
the government ID handy for verification process.
